On the 4th stop of the What Lies Beneath tour, Alter Bridge, Filter, and Tim Montana rocked the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, TX. Each artist brings their own unique style to the venue, combining everything from southern rock to industrial to hard rock and progressive metal. An amalgamation of styles, combined into a unique concert experience that left the Dallas crowd exhilarated, reflective, and eager for more long after the final note faded.

The night opened with Tim Montana, an artist whose rugged roots are as inseparable from his identity as the state in his name. The 30-minute set was over far too soon and featured both old and new songs from his catalog.
Montana, who has played the Letterman show and opened for legends such as ZZ Top, took his place on stage and left no doubt in anyone’s mind that he belonged there. The set featured “Beautiful Hate,” “Get You Some,” “Break Me Down,” as well as a cover of ZZ Top’s “Brown Sugar.”

The highlight of the set was a soon-to-be-released track called “Watch Me Drown,” written on the banks of the Big Hole River with his Native American friends First Crazy Dog and WolfBear of the Crow Tribe.

After the dust settled, Filter delivered a tight, high-impact set. Opening with “You Walk Away,” the band wasted no time establishing a brooding, industrial groove that immediately grabbed the crowd’s attention.
The industrial rock veterans continue to evolve without losing the sharp edge that made them one of the defining heavy acts of the ‘90s. Their latest release, The Algorithm: Ultra Edition, expands on 2023’s The Algorithm with remixed and remastered tracks, new material, and a collection of covers that further push the band’s restless sonic identity.
Frontman Richard Patrick has also confirmed that the band is currently finishing its ninth studio album, The Antidote, signaling yet another chapter for a group that has never been content standing still. The timing feels especially fitting as Filter recently marked the 30th anniversary of “Hey Man Nice Shot,” the explosive debut single from their 1995 breakthrough album Short Bus, a track that still hits with the same raw force three decades later.

Patrick commanded the stage with a mix of grit and precision, balancing aggression with melody throughout the performance. The gritty guitar work was provided by guitarist Jonny Radtke, and the booming basslines by Bobby Miller.

The setlist featured both fan favorites, but weaved in newer material, creating a dynamic push and pull between eras. “Trip Like I Do” brought a surge of energy, its pulsing beat igniting the room, while “Take a Picture” offered a more reflective moment, with the audience singing along in unison. Newer tracks like “Obliteration” and “All the Good” fit seamlessly alongside the classics, proving the band’s sound continues to evolve without losing its edge.

“Hey Man, Nice Shot,” ended the set with a fierce, unrelenting intensity that drew one last deafening response from the audience.

Alter Bridge closed out the night with a commanding set that balanced both power and emotional weight. Opening with “Silent Divide,” the band quickly established a dense, driving atmosphere, as Myles Kennedy’s soaring vocals cut cleanly through the wall of sound crafted by Mark Tremonti and company.
The set moved confidently between eras, with “Open Your Eyes” drawing an early surge of crowd engagement, while the ever-popular “Metalingus” delivered one of the night’s biggest reactions, its iconic riff igniting a full-room singalong. Throughout the performance, the band’s chemistry was undeniable, locking into tight, muscular grooves without sacrificing melody.

For the encore, Alter Bridge leaned into their more expansive side. “Blackbird” unfolded with emotional intensity, building from delicate passages into a sweeping, guitar-driven climax that showcased the band’s dynamic range.
Florida hard rock heavyweights Alter Bridge are currently touring in support of their self-titled eighth studio album, released in January through Napalm Records. The latest chapter from the band finds them leaning even further into the massive riffs, soaring melodies, and cinematic intensity that have defined their sound for more than two decades.

“Isolation” followed as a high-octane closer, sending the crowd out on a final wave of energy. Altogether, the set reinforced why Alter Bridge remains a standout force in modern rock, blending technical skill with genuine feeling.
