Animal Collective have released the new single “Gem & I” from their twelfth album, Isn’t It Now?, which drops September 29th on Domino Records. Isn’t It Now? is their longest album yet, with a runtime of 64-minutes.

The band has been testing out this song live at shows dating as far back as 2019. When compared to preceding singles, such as the 22-minute-long track “Defeat” and the trippy song “Soul Capturer,” “Gem & I” is pretty subdued with its glitchy harmonies and drumbeats.

Before the album’s release, Avey Tare will head out on a solo North American tour which runs through mid-October, while Panda Bear will play Austin’s Levitation Festival with Sonic Boom in late October.
