In support of bands Mind’s Eye and Hot Flash Heat Wave on the aptly named tour, “Tour Like Hell,” the weather from hell almost put the brakes on the Deceits‘ Dallas show on October 25, 2025.
On the last stop of the Texas leg of the tour, after performances in Houston, McAllen, and Austin, the not-so-friendly skies above Dallas opened up and inundated the city with a barrage of rain, threatening to cancel the show at Ferris Wheeler’s, an outdoor venue. Despite a delayed opening and a sound check that unfolded during the band’s first few songs, the venue handled the chaos with ease. Under the glow of its iconic neon-trimmed ferris wheel, and surrounded by city lights, drifting barbecue aromas, and fans unfazed by the weather, the show carried on without missing a beat.
With the two-year anniversary of If There’s No Heaven… only nine days away, Los Angeles’ “passionate post-punk” band Deceits ignited Ferris Wheeler’s with a high-energy celebration of the genre.
Deceits’ signature sound, equal parts vintage punk grit and modern alt-rock, underscored by power and rhythms fueled by the sounds they grew up with, hit all the right notes. Band co-founder and frontman Kevin “Pups” Moreno commanded attention from the crowd with his energetic stage presence, dynamic vocals, and signature bass sounds, while co-founder Francisco Saenz held a steady hand at the helm behind the drum kit.

Standout moments from the band’s set included a fiery rendition of “All We Are”, which turned the fans into willing and able backup vocalists. While the venue’s signature ferris wheel wasn’t moving to the beat, the crowd most certainly was.

The outdoor venue ultimately proved to be the perfect setting, intimate yet open, allowing fans to move in unison with the music or simply soak in the performance with a drink at one of their many outdoor tables. Between songs, Moreno engaged the fans, recalling the shared experiences of the “weather from hell” from only hours before the show.

Despite the roadblocks, the show certainly “went on” and provided new fans and old with a taste of the “Passionate Post-Punk” genre that Deceits are best known for.
