On February 21, 2026, Dallas didn’t just “get a dose” of darkwave electricity – it was completely consumed by it. Matte Blvck and So Much Blood turned AM/FM Dallas into a smoke-laced vortex of pulsing synths, grinding basslines, and relentless rhythm, delivering a full-immersion experience that lived up to – and exceeded – the promise.
The fans of the bands were blissfully unaware of the dropping temperatures and blowing winds, as Matte Blvck proved, once again, that they don’t simply perform; they construct worlds. Reverb-drenched guitars contrasted with driving electronic percussion, while emotionally charged vocals cut through the dark, cold air. The sound was brooding yet cinematic, intimate and massive at the same time.

What stood out most in this outdoor setting, was the command of dynamics. The vocals were tense, while the basslines lurked beneath the melodies. Choruses erupted into explosive, communal release. The crowd moved as one – black-clad bodies swaying, arms raised, faces lit by stage strobes and haze, and warming those around them with their own heat as they moved to the music.
The opener, So Much Blood, brought a darker edge to the evening. His set leaned into distorted textures and beat-forward intensity, blurring the line between DJ set and live performance.
Thick basslines rattled through the open-air venue, while jagged electronic flourishes and relentless percussion locked the audience into an almost trance-like state.

The pairing was intentional and powerful. Matte Blvck’s dark vibes met So Much Blood’s driving electronic grit in a way that amplified both acts. The pairing created momentum: atmospheric tension giving way to percussive force, then circling back again.
Fans were treated to an array of the best songs from Matte Blvck’s catalog, including songs from their 2020 release I’m Waving, Not Drowning and their 2024 release Vows. Topping the night off was the encore, featuring a mashup of “Bliss” versus Nine Inch Nails’ classic, “Sin.”
AM/FM’s outdoor setting only magnified the impact. There were no walls to contain the sound, but there was no escaping it – nor would anyone have wanted to. Every kick drum landed with physical weight. Every guitar swell expanded into the night sky. Every hook hit deeper as the low end reverberated across the crowd.

By the end of the night, Dallas’ darkwave faithful weren’t just spectators; they were participants in something immersive and visceral. This wasn’t simply another Saturday show – it was a statement. Darkwave, industrial, and electronic music didn’t just fill the space at AM/FM Dallas…It transformed it.
