Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark lit up Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen with a high-voltage finale at Terminal 5, wrapping up an electrifying 30-date run that had fans counting down since health issues pushed the original dates back last year.

Sure, OMD could’ve easily relied on their nostalgic big guns: classics like Tesla Girls, Electricity, If You Leave, and Dreaming, all of which they joyfully served up…but they also dove headfirst into fresher material, surprising and thrilling the packed crowd. Tracks like Kleptocracy, The Rock Drill, and the enigmatic Veruschka proved these synth-pop pioneers haven’t lost their appetite for adventure.

Lead singer and guitarist Andy McCluskey, in between tearing up the stage and prowling around like a panther, served up quips, jokes, and blistering political statements throughout the show. Paul Humphreys hit the stage in peak form, radiating charisma as he effortlessly moved between keys and vocals. Martin Cooper elevated the evening with lush keyboard textures and delivered a stunning saxophone solo on So in Love. Behind the kit, Stuart Kershaw injected a driving rhythm into each track, reinventing beloved numbers with energized beats that felt completely current.

By the encore, OMD had bridged the gap between their groundbreaking roots and their continued musical exploration, reminding everyone why they’re still essential four decades on.
