THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT
2/16/25 – Austin, TX at Come and Take It Live

This past Sunday, February 16th, Austin’s home for Loud, Come And Take It Live, hosted rising Metalcore stars The Funeral Portrait for a proper deep dive into the band’s latest studio album, Greetings From Suffocate City.
The crowd experienced a sudden jolt as the house lights dimmed and the PA system hissed to life with the intro song of Frank Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down).” As the song dipped from the end of the first chorus, The Funeral Portrait rushed to the stage receiving a champion’s return as they jumped into their first song, “Generation Psycho.”
This appearance in Austin served as an opportunity to define the next chapter for the band, playing nine songs off their latest release. Stand-out moments came from the fist-pumping tracks “Chernobyl” and “Blood Mother” that had the crowd leaping into the air, as well as the anthemic battlecries of “You’re So Ugly When You Cry.”
Undoubtedly, the most emotional highlight of the evening was during the newest hit, “Hearse For Two,” a song that singer Lee Jennings dedicated to his late Grandmother. The audience joined him in a note-perfect sing-along as he paced onstage with a bouquet of dark flowers. Ultimately, The Funeral Portrait brought the evening to a close with the titular rocking track, “Suffocate City,” with audiences cheering and waving them off at the crescendo.
