Music Fiends’ Angela Alameda recently caught up with Chaz Costello of Sculpture Club before their gig at Club Dada in Dallas, TX opening for the darkwave synthpop band NITE. Watch the interview above!
Led by Chaz Costello, Sculpture Club formed in 2016 in Salt Lake City but now call Dallas, Texas home. Self-described as “Nü Wave Jangle Punk,” Sculpture Club made a name for themselves as party-punks, throwing glitter-coated shows that featured cannons blasting confetti onto crowds at the climax of their sets. Their post-punk sound with a pinch of classic goth features driving guitar parts and thundering drum beats, and they’ve been described as The Cure meets Echo and the Bunnymen.
The band has honed their live performance with their ever-changing lineup of players and has opened for bands like Xiu Xiu, The Ocean Blue, Tamryn, Riki & Soft Kill and continues to make new music.
On June 14, 2024 Sculpture Club released their “Nü” self-titled LP. Their upcoming show dates include stops at Lady Love in Dallas on August 6, August 17 at Rubber Gloves in Denton, TX, the Double Wide in Dallas on October 24, Paper Tiger in San Antonio on October 25, the Deep Ellum Art Company in Dallas on October 27, and the Texas Theater in Dallas on November 12.
