While many of you may know Dusty Gannon as the “Goth Dad” character of TikTok fame, he is also the singer/guitarist of the post-punk, goth-rock band Vision Video from Athens, GA. We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Dusty before his show at Tulips in Fort Worth, TX about the tour, their upcoming new album… and make-up and skincare routines!
Vision Video is currently on tour and working on their third album, Modern Horror, with award-winning producer Ben Allen at Maze Studios in Atlanta.
Modern Horror is set to drop this October and the single “Balaclava Kiss” will be released in July (you can watch them perform this song in our interview video above!). Their first two albums, Inked in Red and Haunted Hours, were extremely well-received, with Pitchfork writing that they “create dreamy tunes tailor-made for the sort of wallflower who sprints to the dancefloor the instant the DJ drops “Age of Consent” or “Primary” at Goth Night” – a perfect description for a band that cites The Cure and Chameleons as being among their major influences.
Speaking of Chameleons, you can catch Vision Video on the road this fall opening for them. Until then, they’ll be playing shows on the West Coast through June with Aurelio Voltaire, then will play the Southern Gothic Festival at the famous 40 Watt Club followed by a string of East Coast dates.
