Music Fiends’ David Garcia recently caught up with Mark Burgess, frontman of the iconic UK post-punk band, The Chameleons, before their recent gig at Sundown at Granada in Dallas, Texas.
Mark was kind enough to have a chat with us in the brutal afternoon Texas heat inside “The Sweatbox” – the nickname I’ve endearingly bestowed upon the ancient RV the Granada uses as their green room/dressing area for its visiting bands.
There is definitely a lot to talk about. The Chameleons are performing their 1986 breakthrough album, Strange Times, in full on this tour. They’ve just released their first new studio recordings in 20 years with the EP Where Are You?, which dropped May 24th on Metropolis Records in conjunction with Strange Times Entertainment, and this fall The Chameleons will release their full-length album, Arctic Moon. Watch our interview with Mark above!
Often considered as one of the most underrated bands to emerge from the Manchester scene, the Chameleons are also regarded as one of the most influential contributors to the post-punk genre and are credited with inspiring such artists as Oasis, Interpol, and The Killers.
