Brooklyn-based synthmaster KALEN’s collaborative band Death By Piano has been making electro shockwaves all over the underground music scene.
Having worked with some of the best producers (Tom Marsh, GreyWolf, Eric Zeiler, etc) Death By Piano creates a refreshing new ambiance of sound that could be described more as an art piece than just music itself.
KALEN’s ability to combine esoteric tones in harmony with aesthetically pleasing visuals has earned Death By Piano acclaim internationally.
We were happy to ask KALEN our infamous PROBE questions, to which she replied with some of our best answers yet! Read on below:
Listen to Death By Piano’s EP Hellish Below
1) If a roach crashed into your rehearsal space, would you run or would you kill it?
I’d crack him a beer and ask him what it was like to have Kafka write a story about him.
2) Does anyone in the band like to play practical jokes? If so, what’s one of the all-time best ones?
Greywolf and I once dumped a cup of water on each other’s head for every song we had written as prep work for the “Do I?” music video.
3) What’s the last gift you received?
A dope necklace complete with an old NYC subway token and citrine crystal. It was from my old drummer and his GF who were just in town visiting and crashed with us for a few nights.
4) If you could pick one thing about yourself that you’d like your fans to know, what would it be?
My music. Please listen to my music. 🙂
5) What music are you listening to lately?
Kelsey Lu is my recent fave find.
