JANUARY JANE is one of those bands that soulfully embodies that 80’s neon-streaked vibe rock that took us by storm once upon a time. Founded and based in New York City, vocalist Pat Via and guitarist Mitch Mitchell had met out of sheer happenstance at an art gallery. From that night on, they were writing music together. Joined by keyboardist Peter Scialla after a very similar meeting of the minds, JANUARY JANE was formed. The vibrant ability to extract 80’s influence with a modern twist in the studio and on stage is an unmatched ability in this industry.

In January of 2021, the band signed with BMG Records and released their own Hall & Oates cover (with a dance video!) of “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)”, which you can watch below. Their newest EP, Your Drug released September 17 via BMG/Whiskey Vinyl records, which you can stream below.

Pat Via and Mitch Mitchell gave Music Fiends some wicked answers to our PROBE questions- read on below!!

1) If a roach crashed your rehearsal space, would you run or would you kill it?

Pat Via: Give them a tamborine to jam!  But the tambo is covered in roach spray – I’m sorry roach, we recorded your take.
Mitch Mitchell: That would 100% depend on which pair of shoes I was wearing. Brand new Gucci’s, and the roach might live to see another day 😉

2) Does anyone in the band like to play practical jokes? If so, what’s one of the all-time best ones?

Pat: Pete has had some great practical jokes – he once convinced a group of people at a store that his buddy was a world title holding championship boxer. Autographs were signed I believe – too good!
Mitch: I remember something happening involving baby powder -when we were playing in Prague, a few years ago- but my recollection is hazy at best 😉

3) What’s the last gift you received?

Pat: A Med Massager  – good for after workouts, or after anything pretty much.
Mitch: A beautiful translucent red Eddie Van Halen Ernie Ball Music Man guitar from the early 90’s… it’s an absolute work of art!  I’m in love 😉

4) If you could pick one thing about yourself that you’d like your fans to know, what would it be?

Pat: I’m always learning, always doing my best to move forward, never stopping.
Mitch: That I love each and every one of you and I cannot wait to see you on tour!

5) What music are you listening to lately?

Pat: I like SG Lewis, BAYNK, and Wallows right now – I constantly listen to new music to see what the worlds’ got goin’ on.
Mitch: I like to give my ears a Smörgåsbord of sonic delights! The last artists I listened to (according to Apple) were Dua Lipa, Van Halen, Dierks Bentley, Sia, Black Sabbath, and Franz Liszt… De-lish!
