- HOLY WARS TOUR 2026 DATES
There’s something poetic about asking an industrial darkwave band what’s on their Current Rotation.
For Matte Blvck, mood isn’t accidental – it’s constructed.
Originally formed in San Diego, California, Matte Blvck has built a reputation for blending industrial electronics, darkwave atmosphere, and post-punk intensity into something sleek, brooding, and emotionally charged. Across two full-length albums – I’m Waving, Not Drowning (2020) and Vows (2024) – the band has refined a sound that feels equal parts underground club and apocalyptic cathedral.
For this edition of Current Rotation, we asked Matte Blvck to share what they’ve been listening to lately… The result? A Spotify playlist that pulls back the curtain on their sonic influences, and includes a few of their own tracks woven in among the artists currently soundtracking their world.
Matte Blvck’s debut, I’m Waving, Not Drowning, introduced listeners to their cinematic take on industrial and darkwave textures – pulsing synths, sharp rhythmic programming, and vocals that cut through the haze with emotional urgency.

With Vows, Matte Blvck doubled down on atmosphere and precision, pushing their darkwave edge further into modern industrial territory. One of the album’s most striking tracks, “BTTR,” brings in Ronny Moorings of Clan of Xymox – a cornerstone name in Darkwave and Post-Punk history. The track bridges eras, pulling from the genre’s classic foundations while injecting it with a sharper, contemporary edge that reflects how Darkwave has progressed over the last three decades.
It’s a defining moment on Vows – one that signals both reverence and ambition.

Matte Blvck are keeping the momentum alive with two striking new remixes: “Soulless (Houses of Heaven Remix)” and “Soulless (Phil Gonzo Remix),” which drops today, February 20, via Breathing Records. It delivers a sleek, shadow-laced reinterpretation from a new angle.
Matte Blvck are currently bringing that energy on the road with the HOLY WARS TOUR 2026, with support from So Much Blood and Occults.
Known for translating their layered studio production into an immersive live experience, Matte Blvck’s performances lean into atmosphere – stark lighting, driving beats, and a palpable tension that builds from the first note to the final pulse. Each stop reinforces what fans already know: Matte Blvck isn’t just a streaming experience – it’s physical and designed to be felt.

Whether you’re discovering Matte Blvck through Vows, catching the HOLY WARS TOUR 2026 live, or diving into their Current Rotation playlist, one thing is clear – they aren’t just participating in the darkwave revival. They’re actively shaping where it goes next.
Press play. Turn it up. Stay in rotation.
