CONTRACULT COLLECTIVE Covers Bad Brains’ 1986 Single “Sacred Love”

Razor-throated vocalist of the Los Angeles-based industrial-metal group CONTRACULT Collective has the right approach to covering the classics. Says Svart, “If you’re going to do a cover, make it your own.”

CONTRACULT Collective does exactly that with their latest video, their take on hardcore legends Bad Brains’ “Sacred Love.”

The video finds CONTRACULT Collective on stage at their October 7th Aftershock Festival performance. The footage is raw, capturing the essence of a band on the rise while connecting with their punk roots.

“Bad Brains have been one of the most influential bands in my life, so it seemed only fitting that we’d try an Industrial Metal rendition of ‘Sacred Love,’” says Svart.

While Bad Brains’ 1986 single caught the band moving in a decidedly less hardcore direction, CONTRACULT Collective bring an abundance of buzzing beats and distortion to this party. But with production, this slick, CONTRACULT Collective’s rough edges are ground into a perfectly slick mix of thrash and Marilyn Manson.

Be sure to catch CONTRACULT Collective at the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, FL on Thursday, November 11 along with Slipknot, Gojira, and Cypress Hill.

They released their newest single “Plunge” in September, and are currently in the works of debuting their newest album in 2022.
