Depeche Mode fans can finally rejoice! While there’s no official word yet if the guys have laid any tracks for a new Depeche Mode release, the news of the arrival of a Soulsavers album, which drops November 12th, should serve as a tasty snack to tide them over for the time being.
The new album, Imposter, will be the third collaboration between Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan and Soulsavers, following their releases “Angels & Ghosts” in 2015 and “The Light the Dead See” in 2012.
Recorded at the legendary Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, the new album features their renditions of a collection of songs written or recorded by artists such as Cat Power, Mark Lanegan, Nina Simone, and Bob Dylan, among others.
With the album’s first single, ”Metal Heart,” Dave Gahan & Soulsavers have put their own spin on Cat Power’s original 1998 song through their moving take on the track.
Through a recent press release, Gahan commented on the new single stating, “It’s probably my favorite at the moment. It was really such a great performance to record because it had this arc, starting as just this little thing which by the end grows into a monster, and to me, that same arc also reflects the sentiment of the song.”
