Ghost Begins US Summer Tour with Amon Amarth

The Swedes have landed! Ghost, along with Amon Amarth, kicked off their tour on Wednesday, August 2nd in front of a packed crowd at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, CA.

Amon Amarth, touring in support of their latest release The Great Heathen Army, kick-started the show with a 9-song setlist that began with “Raven’s Flight.” With a Viking helmet drum riser and two huge swordsman statues flanking the stage, the band plowed through fan favorite “Put Your Back into the Oar,” which prompted the crowd to row along to the song, and concluded their short set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard.”

Ghost launched onto the stage to “Kaisarion” from their latest release, IMPERA. Led by frontman Papa Emeritus IV (aka Tobias Forge), and backed up by his Nameless Ghouls, the band ripped through a blistering 19-song setlist, which included “Rats,” “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” “Absolution,” and “Call Me Little Sunshine.”

After several costume changes throughout the performance, the band ended their set with “Respite on the Spitalfields,” before returning to the stage for a 3-song encore that concluded with the electrifying track “Square Hammer.”
