Los Angeles rock n’ roll natives Kevin Kawano and Matt Lau of JOKER’S HAND have released their newest song, “Goth Girlfriend,” a second banger following their summer success “War Profiteer” which held the #1 spot for weeks after debuting on KROQ’s “Local’s Only” show.

“War Profiteer” would not be their first radio success, as two of their songs off their self-titled EP also hit #1 on KROQ’s “Locals Only” back in 2020. The apparent experimentation with crossover melodies and smooth vocals deconstruct a remixed version of what we’ve known rock to be.
Kawano and Lau formed Joker’s Hand while attending UC Santa Cruz film school, where they made time to record demos and hone in on their sound. Having both been raised in a more strict conservative upbringing, vocalist/guitarist Kevin Kawano explains: “I grew up in a conservative household where I wasn’t allowed to get tattoos, and talk of sex was forbidden. But deep down inside I always knew my heart craved darkness, so I got me a goth girlfriend.”
The new song “Goth Girlfriend” appears on the band’s forthcoming 8-song EP ‘All-American Rage,’ due out later this fall.
There’s no doubt that these young rockstars will produce, deliver, and soar in the music industry as they evolve themselves.
