Knocked Loose delivers surprise EP with Animated Film

Kentucky-based metalcore band Knocked Loose dropped their newest EP, A Tear in the Fabric of Life on October 13th, partnered with an animated short film directed/constructed by Magnus Jonsson. Tear in the Fabric of Life is a follow-up to their 2019 album A Different Shade of Blue. The EP was produced by Will Putney, a longtime collaborator.

Frontman Bryan Garris elaborates on the story and background of the film & EP in a release

“It’s a story about extreme grief and the levels a person is willing to go through to get rid of it. The story follows a main character through a traumatic car crash late one night in the woods that leaves his partner deceased, and from there you spiral with him into the depression and guilt that comes with being the cause of something so detrimental. This is the first time we really dove in and tried to create something sonically that evokes a different range of emotions and overall something that introduces tension and anxiety with a massive payoff….

I’ve always been a very personal writer and this was originally a step away from that, into something more artistic. But in the end, it was just as therapeutic as writing a regular Knocked Loose record, and I think you’ll be able to hear that.”

Conceptually different from their usual sound, Knocked Loose took the solitude of the pandemic in 2020 to hone in on an emotive, death/metalcore influence for Tears. The EP has so far been a success, as fans have responded enthusiastically to the project.

A Tear in The Fabric of Life is out digitally everywhere under Pure Noise Records.
