Ozzy Osbourne’s The Diary of a Madman, number 15 on Rolling Stone’s Greatest Metal Albums of All-Time, is turning 40 this year.
As critic Kory Grow noted, “A year after proving he was still a vital musical force on his first post–Black Sabbath solo LP, 1980’s Blizzard of Ozz, Ozzy Osbourne demonstrated it wasn’t a one-time fluke with an album of poppy and gothic anthems.” To celebrate the anniversary of this classic record, the Ozzman c/ometh bearing gifts.
A 40th Anniversary Expanded Digital Edition of The Diary of a Madman is out November 5th and includes two tracks, “Believer (live)” and “Flying High Again (live)” that were previously unavailable digitally. The tracks are some of the last to ever capture Ozzy Osbourne’s virtuosic lead guitarist Randy Rhodes before his untimely death touring behind The Diary of a Madman in 1982.
Osbourne will also team up with legendary skateboarding brand Dogtown to pay homage to his relationship to skateboarding culture for more than 40 years. The OZZY X DOGTOWN collection features 200 limited-edition decks designed by Sean Cliver and Jim “Red Dog” Muir, manufactured by Paul Schmitt at PS Six, and hand silk-screened on the classic ‘80s Dogtown Stonefish shape by Chicken at Screaming Squeegees.
