Skinny Puppy’s cEvin Key Announces New Album, Shares Track

Skinny Puppy founder cEvin Key (aka Kevin Compton) has announced a new album of previously unreleased archival material, bRap and fOrth, vol. 9, which drops October 6th. He has also shared a track from the upcoming release, “House Tried to KILL ME.”

bRap and fOrth, vol. 9 sees the continuation of Key’s ongoing “Back and Forth” series, which utilizes demos and recordings from his massive archive of unreleased material. For this release, he has brushed off old four-track tapes from Skinny Puppy’s earlier work from Bites era.

Complete with old-school drum machine beats and classic 80’s sound effects, “House Tried to KILL ME” clocks in at 4 minutes and is definitely required listening for all hardcore Skinny Puppy fans.

Via Bandcamp, Key’s stated: “‘bRap and fOrth 9’ is a collection of some of my earliest recordings recently discovered on four-track tapes. Most are from 1985 from the infamous ‘Bites” apartment, a couple more from later but still made on a four-track. Something about the collection of gear and this vibrant time made for a lot of writing. Enjoy the time capsule <3.”

Skinny Puppy recently announced a continuation of their final North American tour, which picks up this fall, and Key is also scoring the upcoming survival-horror video game Silent Hill: Ascension.
