Zilched Disarms with New Noise-pop Single + Video “A Valentine”

Detroit’s grunge-pop singer-songwriter Zilched (Chloe Drallos) is releasing her newest single and music video accompaniment “A Valentine.” The track is a part of her special two-song EP, serving as the A-side to her fuzzy take on the Stevie Nicks classic hit “Stand Back,” out 11/9.

About the lyrics, Drallos says that “A Valentine” is “about realizing you don’t need to conform to anyone’s expectations of you, romantically or otherwise.” The video, which was co-directed by Drallos, was shot amongst friends one night in an abandoned church. The MV, which mostly features Drallos and the band performing on stage, feels consistently ‘90s in vibe.

Awash in layers of grungy noise-pop, there was something so gravitating about her hard-hitting energy. The wall of sound will give audience members a heady rush from the get-go. The edgy sound recalled bands like Nirvana, Hole and Garbage.

Ever since 2017, Drallos has been making a name for herself as Zilched. Her debut EP Pulling Teeth, released in 2018 offers us our first look into Zilched’s swirl of unexpected noise-pop. Following this, Zilched released “Sleeper,” “The Morning” and “Blue Doom” in 2019. Last year’s debut album DOOMPOP was the launching pad for her all-encompassing pop-based, loud-quiet-loud dynamic signature sound that sees itself realized in her latest track. Zilched is also currently on tour with Heaven Honey. See tour dates below.
