Paramore have released a new track called “The News.”  The song is off the band’s upcoming album which drops February 10 on Atlantic Records. The album, titled This Is Why, will be their first release in six years.

The single depicts the band trying to break free from the negative news as singer Hayley Williams sings, “Turn on/ Turn off the news.” In a press release, the singer said that the song felt “exciting from the start. It feels like a happy medium between classic Paramore angst and bringing in some influences we’ve always had but never exploited.”

She went on to state, “The 24-hr news cycle is just impossible to comprehend. And I feel a pang of guilt when I unplug to protect my headspace. The common reaction, or non-reaction, seems to be dissociation. Not one of us is innocent of that and who could blame us?”

Paramore will hit the road to promote the album in 2023. Support acts include Foals, Bloc Party, and others. They will also join Taylor Swift as part of The Eras Tour and will headline Hangout Festival in Alabama in May.
