Punk history is loading back into the van one more time. The Damned have announced the U.S. run of their Final Damnation 50 tour, a celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary and a thunderous salute to one of the most influential acts ever to emerge from the first wave of UK punk.
Few bands can claim a legacy like The Damned. Formed in 1976, they fired the opening shot of British punk with the release of “New Rose,” widely recognized as the first UK punk single, then followed it with the landmark debut album Damned Damned Damned. But The Damned never stayed in one lane. Over five decades, they twisted punk into goth, psychedelia, theatrical rock and dark pop, building a catalog that still sounds dangerous, weird and gloriously alive.

“The band are excited to announce the USA installment of our Final Damnation 50 tour.. and yes, we’re calling it Final Damnation because, bearing in mind the advanced years of the participants it’s fairly unlikely we’ll undertake anything quite like this again…
There’s the small matter of pride involved too.. in that the performance of this classic material has to reflect the genuine passion and raunch of the original recordings otherwise it just ain’t worth doing….
The band are playing so well at the moment too.. we’re going to be performing an eclectic setlist chosen from right across the Damned’s career….
Where on earth does time go.. it seems like only yesterday we were knocking out New Rose in a dingy converted garage in Islington….

That mix of swagger, humor and zero-nonsense pride has always been part of The Damned DNA. The current lineup features original members Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies, joined by early-’80s member Paul Gray. It is a lineup built from the source, not nostalgia by imitation.
Support on select dates comes from The Flamin’ Groovies and The Courettes, adding even more voltage to an already stacked run. The tour also includes an appearance at California’s Darker Waves festival alongside Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, Bad Religion and more.
Whether you came in through the primal chaos of the early records, the grandeur of the goth years, or the left-turn brilliance that followed, this run promises a setlist pulled from every corner of the band’s career. If this truly is the Final Damnation, expect it to be loud, sharp and unforgettable.
