After four and a half decades of glam-drenched punk weirdness, power-pop perfection, and gloriously unfiltered rock ‘n’ roll attitude, Redd Kross are doing exactly what a band with that kind of résumé should do: hitting the road and turning the amps all the way up.

The legendary Los Angeles outfit has announced a Spring 2026 tour celebrating 45 years of the band, with tickets going on sale Friday, November 21, 2025. The run will include U.S. dates beginning in late March with Conan Neutron & The Secret Friends, along with a co-headline Australian tour with The Hard-Ons in March.

For a band that began as teenage punks in Southern California and somehow grew into one of underground rock’s most beloved cult institutions, the idea of a 45-year anniversary tour feels both surreal and completely appropriate.

Redd Kross started in Hawthorne, California in 1979, founded by brothers Jeff and Steven McDonald. Barely out of middle school at the time, the pair initially called the band The Tourists before adopting the name Redd Kross and quickly embedding themselves in the exploding Los Angeles punk scene.

While their early material leaned into the chaotic, bratty energy of hardcore punk, the band soon developed something far stranger – and more fun. Redd Kross began blending punk with 1970s glam, bubblegum pop, and heavy rock, tossing in pop culture references, twisted humor, and a love of everything loud and weird. The result was a sound that felt like The Runaways crashing a Saturday morning cartoon while a stack of Kiss records melted in the background.

Over the years, Redd Kross built a reputation as one of alternative rock’s most influential oddballs. Albums like Neurotica, Third Eye, and the cult-favorite Phaseshifter showcased a band that could move effortlessly between sneering punk riffs, sugary power-pop hooks, and glam-rock theatrics.

Despite lineup changes across the decades, the McDonald brothers have remained the band’s beating heart, steering Redd Kross through shifting musical eras while maintaining their singular, gloriously off-kilter identity.

Celebrating 45 years as a band, the upcoming tour feels less like a nostalgia trip and more like a victory lap for a group that never quite fit into any scene – and thrived because of it.

The Australian leg kicks things off in March 2026, where Redd Kross will co-headline shows with Australian punk legends The Hard-Ons, promising a trans-Pacific collision of two bands who have been doing things their own way for decades.

Shortly after, the band heads back stateside for a run of U.S. dates beginning in late March, joined by Conan Neutron & The Secret Friends, a band whose chaotic, genre-hopping rock energy feels perfectly aligned with the spirit of Redd Kross.

If Redd Kross has proven anything over the last 45 years, it’s that rock music doesn’t have to choose between being smart, weird, catchy, and loud. It can be all of those things at once – preferably with a glitter bomb going off in the background.

And if history is any indication, this anniversary tour will be less of a retrospective and more of a reminder that some bands never stop being dangerous in the best possible way.

After 45 years, Redd Kross are still doing what they’ve always done best:
playing loud, playing weird, and having way too much fun doing it.
