In spite of the relatively small turnout for tonight’s Combichrist gig, the crowd was energized and ready for the onslaught of ear candy they were about to be treated to on Thursday, October 7th at Rail Club Live in Fort Worth, TX.

As smoke billowed around us and the crowd anxiously waited for the band to take the stage, the atmosphere in the room was intense and filled with the unusual sound of…howling wolves? Odd choice of cheering method for these particular fans of the aggrotech/industrial metal group, but it caught on and remained a theme throughout the night.

One by one the band members materialized through the dense smoke and launched into their latest single, “Compliance.” Though Combichrist has slimmed down to only three members for this tour, the absence of additional musicians isn’t audibly noticed. They still delivered one ferocious attack after another to the delight of all of those in attendance.

Leader Andy LaPlegua was in good spirits and seemed to be enjoying the vibe of the night as he smiled and informed us all that he “feels fantastic!” Also feeling fantastic was the girl to my right who repeatedly raised her shirt and exposed her naked breasts every time he crossed to our side of the stage. When LaPlegua finally noticed her exposed, jiggling chest he laughed But did that deter her? No, there was no stopping this girl. For the entire 15 song set she gave it her all. I’m not really sure of her intent but her determination was commendable, and I’m sure the event security appreciated the free show.

LaPlegua energetically lead the band as they ripped through newer tunes and classics. When they launched into “Get Your Body Beat,” followed by “Blut Royale,” followed by “Shut Up and Swallow,” old school fans of the band especially appreciated those back-to-back kicks in the gut of musical deliciousness.

When the band left the stage for a quick break after “Never Surrender,” the crowd once again utilized their impressive wolf howling abilities until they returned to end the show with “Maggots at the Party” and “What the Fuck is Wrong With You?”
