On October 1st, self-proclaimed “urban pop” artist BabyJake made a stop at Subterranean in Chicago on his 2023 headlining tour after the debut of his latest single “Sweetheart From Arkansas” last month. BabyJake was joined by opening acts Hotel Fiction and Lunde.
The Florida-born, LA-made, and Nashville-based singer played a wide variety of his songs, including several off of his most recent release, 2023’s rock-and-roll inspired, Aren’t We Ever Gonna Be More Than Friends? Another big hit of the night was his cover of “Beast of Burden” by The Rolling Stones.
Of course, he closed his set with his 2019 hit, “Cigarettes On Patios,” the song that really put him on the map when it reached over 30 million streams and climbed to #2 on Spotify’s viral charts. No matter what song BabyJake played the crowd was into it, and sang along to every verse while dancing all night long.
Throughout his show, BabyJake was not shy when it came to interacting with the crowd. He even played “Sweetheart From Arkansas” right after a fan in the front row requested it.
After the show, BabyJake stuck around for a bit to take pictures with fans and sign autographs! The way he interacted with the crowd during and after his show really demonstrated the passion he has for his work and the care he has for his supporters. He took his time to connect with each fan, and you can see the love and the joy his music brings them. He has been quoted as saying, “My goal is to reach out to people and connect to their hearts the way my lyrics connect to mine. You don’t have to have the same experiences to have the same feelings.” This mindset of his makes his shows extra special.
BabyJake’s emotional and raspy voice combined with his unique style make for a stellar show. You can catch BabyJake on his fall North American tour now through November 10th, when it wraps in Nashville, TN. Visit www.itsbabyjake.com for the complete tour schedule.
