Till Lindemann, the theatrical singer of platinum-award winning industrial metal band Rammstein, brought his first-ever solo tour of the Americas to Dallas, TX on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with an awesomely bizarre performance at The Factory in Deep Ellum. Supporting artists Twin Temple and Aesthetic Perfection were the ideal opening acts to get the packed crowd energized for the main performance.

The 15-date jaunt kicked off on September 17th in San Antonio and is in support of Lindemann’s latest release, 2023’s Zunge. The trek also includes festival performances at Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and outings at Knotfest in both Des Moines and São Paulo.

First up was the Austrian-American dark industrial pop band Aesthetic Perfection, featuring Daniel Graves on vocals, Brooke C on drums, and NOIZITH on guitar and keyboard.

Opening their set with “Gods and Gold” from 2019’s Into the Black, frontman Daniel Graves demanded the crowd’s attention from start to finish, often engaging directly with the audience.

Aesthetic Perfection is performing headlining shows in select cities surrounding several dates of the Lindemann tour. Definitely catch one if you can! Visit www.aesthetic-perfection.net for more info.

Twin Temple hit the stage next and brought the crowd to a frenzy with their unique brand of self-described “Satanic Doo-wop” music.

The striking vocals of Alexandra James, combined with partner and guitarist Zachary James’ vintage rock and roll rhythms created a retro vibe that transported you to another time.

The duo dressed in authentic vintage clothing and sang catchy, lighthearted tunes about Satan, the occult, and loose morals to the delight, and sometimes confusion, of those in attendance. Their set was the ideal precursor for what was to come.

With his deep voice that automatically demands attention, Till Lindemann and his band – guitar players Jes Paige and Emily Ruvidich, bass player Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), keyboardist Constance Day, and drummer Joe Letz (Combichrist) – took the stage and immediately launched into a severe performance of “Zunge.”

Without the ability for his usual pyrotechnics at this smaller venue, I wondered what visual treats were in store for us instead. I needn’t have worried because the performance was jam-packed with weird antics that somehow seemed oddly in-line with everything that was going on.

Raw fish launched…check. Whole red velvet cakes tossed…check. Keyboardist dancing on a stripper pole…check. Lindemann himself making his way through the crowd in a flashing red sleigh pulled by security pallbearer-style…check. Projected visuals that mostly featured the band doing things that were equal parts disturbing and amusing…check.

Visually stunning and provocative performances of “ Golden Shower,” “Blut,” and “Praise Abort,” combined with heavier tracks such as “Schweiss” and “Allesfresser” kept the audience enthralled for the duration of the show.

This was a one-of-a-kind performance unlike any of the hundreds of shows I’ve seen. Both the music and theatrics while at times were bewildering and even terrifying, they were also brilliant and thoroughly entertaining.

After the show while in line to get into the parking garage, I met Hunter and Sylar (pictured above) who had been hit by red velvet cake and proudly carried the empty cake tray. I overheard others murmuring excitedly about still smelling like fish. Very weird after-concert chatter, which isn’t at all surprising considering what we all just witnessed.
