Helmet blasted the doors off Tulips in Fort Worth, TX on Wednesday night. The early 90’s metal band kicked off their American tour for the 30th Anniversary of the album Betty. It was set to be a wild night with doors opening at 6pm with music beginning at 7pm. The 1994 groundbreaking album, Betty, rang in everyone’s ears and played in its entirety on a below-freezing, sold-out show with no plans on stopping.

Baltimore’s hardcore punk group War on Women hit the stage as openers. Frontwoman Shawna Potter’s heavy vocals heated the stage into a fury of hair whips and chants for women’s rights. The co-ed feminist group began in 2011, tackling injustices and world issues and kept the crowd fueled for more.

Next on the bill was stoner rockers Slomosa from Bergen, Norway. The four-piece has been busy touring across nations and parts of Europe and North America. Benjamin Berdous, Tor Erik Bye, Jard Hole, and Marie Moe performed tracks from their 2024 album Tundra Rock and the crowd fell in love with the fresh wave breakers. The group recently became a noteworthy add to record labels like Stickman Records with their debut self-titled release in 2020.

The awaiting crowd was more than ready for Helmet, who hit the stage strong and heavy. Vocalist and guitarist Page Hamilton, along with current members Kyle Stevenson, Dave Case, and Dan Beeman, fed off the cheers from the packed venue. The venue was filled with fans young and old, fist pumping and wild pit barging. The headliners heralding from New York were a dream to watch for many and kept the show-goers thoroughly entertained.
