FAN REVIEW: We Came As Romans – 5/23/23 at LOGO in Hamburg, Germany
Review by: Majbritt Kosmahl
Coming back as a five-piece after 2018’s tragic passing of Kyle Pavone, it was the first show for We Came as Romans back in Hamburg, Germany.
Seeyouspacecowboy from California and Caskets from Leeds supported the show. Seeyoupacecowboy covered an average of 30 minutes before Caskets stepped onto the stage. Caskets played almost 40 minutes of the finest post-hardcore with a crowd that could have also been their own since so many people knew the lyrics to their songs.
When it was time for We Came As Romans, Dave Stephens dedicated “Lost In The Moment” to Kyle saying that it is all about the moment we live in & that we should appreciate it because the moment is all we have got.
Obviously, with their latest album being all about Kyle and the process of grief, they did play lots of songs from Darkbloom but in addition, they also played older songs like “Tracing Back Roots” and “Hope” and songs like “Wasted Age” and “Learning To Survive”.
Furthermore, adding some fun facts while introducing every member to the crowd at the beginning of the show and transporting this carefree energy throughout the entire set, it shows that these five people continue to keep Kyles’s legacy alive: Like, Dave saying how thankful they are that people show up to their shows, David Puckett giving everything he has got on the drums, Joshua Moore’s inspiring lyrics, Andy Glass and Dave’s powerful screaming vocals and Lou Cotton’s skills on the guitar.
Closing off the show with “Black Hole” in the hottest club with the sweat dropping off the ceiling, it was such an honourable show celebrating the legacy that was Kyle Pavone.
