Crowd Critics Fan Review by John Peterson

Wet Leg are so hyped right now it’s easy to excuse them away as the product of some mysterious, brilliant social media marketing scheme. So hyped you can already hear rumblings of the inevitable backlash from naysayers.

Luckily, their infectious pop hooks, witty lyrics, and effortlessly cool style make it easy to ignore all the external noise and focus on the unique music they’re creating. They recently wrapped up an eighteen date North American tour at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. From the moment they took the stage, it was blatantly apparent why this duo from the Isle of Wight are so hyped. They are giving their audience catchy indie-pop that sounds fresh and new, yet comfortably familiar.

Throughout their fourteen-song set, from “Wet Dream” and “Ur Mom” to “Chaise Longue,” the crowd bounced and sang along like these songs had existed in their world for decades. The most powerful impression imprinted on my mind after their fantastic set was how much fun Rhian and Hester are having. Their joyous creativity permeates everything they do, from their music and videos, to their live shows. They’re having a great time and it’s impossible to avoid getting caught up in that whirlwind of joy when you witness it firsthand.

Wet Leg are the exact band we needed in 2022. It feels so good to get a chance to truly live in the moment; escape the hyper-reality we’ve all dealt with the last couple of years, and finally experience some frivolous joy.
