SEPULTURA return for one final blast across North America.

  • The Celebrating Life Through Death Tour Kicks off on April 29 in Montclair, NJ
  • The Cloud of Unknowing EP drops April 24th

After more than four decades of global impact, SEPULTURA are preparing to bring their final U.S. run to life next week. The legendary Brazilian metal institution will launch the North American leg of its farewell trek, Celebrating Life Through Death, on April 29 in Montclair, New Jersey, closing a chapter that helped reshape heavy music across generations.

Formed in Belo Horizonte, SEPULTURA rose from underground extremity to become one of metal’s most respected and influential names. With 14 gold records, performances in 80 countries, and a catalog that crossed thrash, death metal, groove, tribal rhythms, and experimental territory, the band carried Brazil’s identity to stages around the world while carving out a sound entirely their own.

This final North American run arrives with a stacked lineup. Thrash icons EXODUS, hardcore veterans BIOHAZARD, and rising force TRIBAL GAZE will join the tour, making the farewell stretch one of the most loaded heavy packages of the year. The route hits cities including Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles, with festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple before the final stop on May 29 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

The tour also lands just ahead of the release of SEPULTURA’s final studio offering, The Cloud of Unknowing, due April 24 through Nuclear Blast Records. The EP marks the band’s first new music since 2020’s Quadra and serves as one last creative statement before their official exit.

In February, the band introduced the EP with lead single “The Place,” a six-minute-plus track that blends doom and sludge elements into a dark, immersive composition. Vocalist Derrick Green explained the song’s lyrical focus in a prepared statement.

“This song deals with immigrants who have come to a place seeking refuge and start a new life,” said Green. “Once assimilated into a false sense of security and relentless propaganda they began to act out against what they hate about themselves. The transition begins to escape from the self hatred and the lashing out against people who believed in the same ideas. I feel the lyrics truly follow the transitions of the song. Starting with disappointment and arriving at anger.”

Earlier this month, SEPULTURA unveiled the second single, “Beyond the Dream,” a track the band described as one of the defining moments of its closing era:

“’Beyond the Dream” emerges as one of the most emblematic moments of Sepultura’s final chapter, serving as a poetic reflection of a journey shaped by decades of albums, tours, and life on the road…

This previously unreleased composition fulfills a long-standing desire of the band to explore the ballad format, blending Sepultura’s identity with the melodic sensitivity of renowned collaborators. To bring this project to life, Sepultura enlisted the essential collaboration of Sérgio Britto and Tony Bellotto of Titãs—musicians who share a long history with the band and are widely recognized as specialists in the genre, as well as composers of classics such as “Polícia.”

The result of a direct partnership between members of Sepultura and Titãs, the song celebrates the connection between artists who share the stage and a deep passion for creation. The outcome is a piece that brings great satisfaction to everyone involved, establishing itself as both an emotional and historical milestone featured on the band’s final EP, released in this very year that marks Sepultura’s official farewell.”

The Cloud of Unknowing features four tracks: “All Souls Rising,” “Beyond the Dream,” “Sacred Books,” and “The Place.” Vinyl editions include Oxblood, Transparent Petrol, Crystal Clear, and Transparent Red variants, with each LP also including a CD edition of the EP. For fans who grew up with SEPULTURA or discovered them later through the endless generations they inspired, this final North American run is more than a tour. It is the last chance to witness one of metal’s most important bands take the stage in the U.S. under their own banner.
