Slipknot revealed that it has started rehearsing with a new mystery drummer, the replacement for Jay Weinberg, in a social media post where they shared an image of a broken drum stick with the word: “Rehearsal.”

Fan speculation is at an all-time high, with many of them convinced that Weinberg’s replacement is Eloy Casagrande because of the Promark drum stick (Casagrande’s brand of choice) seen in the social media post.

Casagrande did recently abruptly quit Sepultura only weeks before the Brazilian thrash band took off on its farewell world tour, so perhaps there’s something to this idea.

Slipknot and their new drummer have just over a month to fine-tune the setlist because they are slated to play their first set of 2024 on April 27th at Sick New World in Las Vegas, followed by appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12th and Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio, on May 19th.

If Casagrande is going to be the new drummer, he’s already proven he’s got what it takes to fill his predecessor’s shoes. The Brazilian has posted drum covers of Slipknot songs like “People = Shit” and “The Heretic Anthem,” showing that he’s more than capable of tackling the complex parts written by the late Joey Jordison.
