On a frigid Sunday evening, The Sylvee turned into a seething cathedral of distortion as NOTHING MORE headlined one of the most explosive bills the venue has seen this year. Shaking off the late-winter chill, fans packed the hall shoulder to shoulder, quickly filling the room to capacity. With support from Doobie, Archers, and Catch Your Breath, the night built into a full-scale sonic assault as the crowd surged with sweating bodies and screaming fans. Each set pushed the intensity higher until the entire building felt primed to explode.

Doobie started the night off with a gritty and intense performance. The Texas-born artist has built a loyal following with a genre-blending style that fuses alternative rock, hip-hop, and emotionally raw storytelling. Gaining traction through independent releases and viral singles online, Doobie’s music often tackles themes of addiction, loss, and personal struggle with unfiltered honesty.

The opening song of the night, “Until I Get to Heaven,” hit the hall hard, and the crowd quickly moved closer to the stage. The delivery felt honest and unfiltered. Every lyric sounded like a confession shouted through a wall of sound.

Archers followed with a tighter, darker edge, dialing up the aggression while sharpening the atmosphere. The rising metalcore band from Madison, Wisconsin has been steadily gaining momentum on the modern metal scene with a growing catalog of singles and EP releases that showcase their mix of crushing breakdowns and melodic hooks. Playing a hometown show added another layer of intensity to the set.

Their breakdowns hit like controlled detonations, triggering synchronized jumps and explosive mosh pits that swallowed half the floor. Songs like “Made for Love” and “Say This Sober” slammed through the venue with crushing force. The chemistry between the band and audience was undeniable. Call-and-response screams echoed off the walls, and security was already in full sprint mode, catching a steady stream of surfers.

Catch Your Breath brought a dynamic shift, balancing melody with massive, pulse-pounding heaviness. The Austin, Texas–based band broke through in a major way with their 2023 debut album Shame on Me, which helped propel tracks like “Dial Tone” and “Savages” across streaming platforms and rock radio while building a rapidly growing fanbase. Their blend of modern rock melody and metalcore weight translated effortlessly to the live setting.

Their choruses soared, giving the crowd moments to shout every word before plunging back into crushing riffs that reignited the pit. Tracks like, “Shame on Me” hit with explosive power. “You are not alone, and we are so happy you are still here,” Joshua Mowery passionately spoke about addiction between the lyrics of “Y.S.K.W.”. By the end of their set, the entire room was primed and restless, hungry for the headliner.

The Madison stop was part of NOTHING MORE’s Carnal Nature Tour, which has been drawing strong crowds across the country with its stacked lineup of rising modern rock and metal acts. The tour continues to showcase the band’s reputation as one of the genre’s most commanding live performers while introducing newer bands to rapidly expanding audiences.

When NOTHING MORE finally stormed the stage, the reaction was volcanic. The San Antonio, Texas rock powerhouse has spent more than two decades building a reputation for explosive live shows and thought-provoking songwriting. Their 2014 self-titled album first pushed them into the national spotlight, while the 2017 release The Stories We Tell Ourselves earned three Grammy nominations, including Best Rock Album. The band also scored a No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart with “Go to War,” cementing their status as one of modern rock’s most dynamic acts.
Launching straight into their opener, “House on Sand,” without hesitation, they unleashed a wall of sound so immediate and punishing it felt like the air itself had been knocked loose. The mosh pit expanded into a relentless whirlpool of limbs and adrenaline. The band kept the momentum roaring with songs like “IF IT DOESN’T HURT,” “Go to War,” and “Jenny,” each one hitting harder than the last. Crowd surfers rolled forward in waves; their hands reaching skyward beneath flashing strobes.

Jonny Hawkins commanded every inch of the stage, urging the crowd to move, to scream, to give everything. And they did. As sweat dripped from the ceiling and the barricade barely contained the surge of fans, NOTHING MORE closed their set with “This Is the Time (Ballast)” and had the entire venue shouting in unison. The energy somehow surged even higher, culminating in a triumphant finale that sent a last tidal wave of surfers overhead.
