If there’s one band that knows how to turn a strut into a full-blown spectacle, it’s The Hives.
The Swedish garage rock firestarters – the sharply dressed, eternally wired outfit that kicked the early-2000s rock revival straight in the teeth – are back with a brand-new video for “Roll Out the Red Carpet” off of 2025’s The Hives Forever Forever The Hives. And in true Hives fashion, subtlety was never invited.
This time, the band has been immortalized in clay. Yes, clay.

According to a statement from The Hives about the new video, “Our friend Cissi Efraimsson has crafted our likeness in clay much as ancient civilizations made of THEIR gods and filmed them in a fever dream of a story.”
Equal parts mythological ego trip and art-school hallucination, the visual matches the band’s larger-than-life persona perfectly. The Hives have always operated like rock ‘n’ roll comic book characters – sharp suits, sharper riffs, and enough swagger to power a small city. The claymation kicks off with a magic show and then rips the curtain down, spiraling headfirst into beautifully unhinged surrealism.
For decades now, The Hives have built a reputation on explosive live shows and punchy, high-voltage singles that hit fast and leave dents. From their early garage-punk detonations to their ongoing reign as one of the tightest live bands on the planet, they’ve never exactly eased up on the gas.
And they’re not about to start.
Fresh off a tour with My Chemical Romance – because apparently conquering arenas wasn’t enough – The Hives are now storming North America. In just over two weeks, they kick off a ten-date run with Australian punk disruptors The Chats riding shotgun. The tour is already halfway sold out, with low-ticket warnings flashing for the remaining dates – meaning if you’re planning to stand in the blast radius in person, procrastination is not your friend.
Between the clay visuals, a victory lap with My Chemical Romance still echoing, and an impending tour primed for pure sweat-slicked mayhem, The Hives aren’t just rolling out the red carpet – they’re stomping all over it in polished dress shoes.
