British glam-rock torchbearers The Struts just cranked their anthem “Could Have Been Me” up to legendary status. How? By enlisting none other than Sir Brian May of Queen to shred his way into a brand-new reimagined version of the track, out now on all streaming platforms, along with an official music video (watch below).
For a decade, “Could Have Been Me” has been the band’s calling card…an unapologetic blast of empowerment that’s shaken clubs, dominated rock radio, and even strutted its way into the smash-hit Universal flick Sing 2. But with May’s unmistakable guitar wizardry, the track just hit a whole new level of arena-sized glory.
Frontman Luke Spiller couldn’t hold back his excitement:
“I’m absolutely ecstatic to announce that the Struts and I are set to release a reimagined version of ‘Could Have Been Me,’ featuring my hero the legendary Brian May! This song is all about seizing your dreams and living life to the fullest, no matter the obstacles. It’s a powerful anthem that reminds us to chase what sets our souls on fire. Collaborating with Brian on this track is a dream realized, and I can’t wait for you all to feel the energy and inspiration behind it. Hopefully this song will go on to inspire many more people to take life by the scruff of the neck and drink it down deeply! Every day is a gift. Let’s celebrate them together x”

May, who’s got a little résumé you might have heard of…Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, oh, and selling over 300 million records…was equally stoked:
“Working with Luke and The Struts has been a joyous journey for me. I became obsessed with this great song ever since I was inspired by the original version and felt an uncontrollable urge to mess with it! It carries a great positive message for rebellious kids of all ages. And, together, WE ROCK!!”
If anyone can take a modern glam anthem and blast it into rock immortality, it’s Brian May with The Struts firing on all cylinders.
Since their 2015 debut Everybody Wants, The Struts have been on a nonstop rocket ride, spinning out hits like “Kiss This” and “Body Talks,” playing alongside The Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, and Guns N’ Roses, and even earning Dave Grohl’s seal of approval as “the best opening band we’ve ever had.” With albums like Young & Dangerous (2018), Strange Days (2020), and Pretty Vicious (2023), they’ve proven time and again they’re here to keep the spirit of rock excess alive and loud.
The Struts are currently on tour, so grab your tickets, crank up the new version of “Could Have Been Me” with Sir Brian May, and remember: every day’s a gift, and tonight’s for rocking.
