Weezer just rolled out The Gathering – a fall tour that pairs them with The Shins and Silversun Pickups – and instead of a standard “tickets on sale now” post, they turned the whole thing into a weeklong lead-up that feels more like an inside joke you actually want in on. It starts with access games: fan club pre-sale opens March 31 at 10am local, the free sign-up route unlocks April 1 at 10am, and general on-sale lands April 2 at 10am. Pick your lane and move fast.

They also slipped in a new track, “Shine Again,” arriving April 1 from the upcoming album, and went out of their way to say it’s not a prank. Which, coming from Weezer, somehow makes it feel even more like one – but in a good way. The band has always thrived in that space between sincerity and a raised eyebrow, and dropping a new single on April Fool’s Day without blinking is exactly the kind of move that keeps them interesting decades in.
Then there’s what they’re calling The Gathering – Initiation Week in L.A., where fans get pulled into the orbit before the tour even starts. A trivia night at Barney’s Beanery on March 26, a pickleball tournament against the band on March 30, and a handful of unannounced pop-ups scattered around the city. It’s loose, a little unpredictable, and very on-brand – less about spectacle, more about creating moments you’ll end up talking about later like, “yeah, that actually happened.”

Weezer tours aren’t rare. But this one’s got a little extra personality baked in. Between the offbeat L.A. events, a new song dropping on the most suspicious date of the year, and a lineup that hits across indie and alt-rock lanes, The Gathering feels less like a tour and more like an experience you accidentally stumble into and don’t want to leave.
Or at the very least… a pickleball match you’ll lose to Rivers Cuomo.
